SmartLabel Domain Solution (URL)

As part of our core package, we provide a whitelabel SmartLabel product. One component of this customization includes allowing customers the option to present their SmartLabel pages on their own domains.

Example Domains

Custom

If you don’t want your pages to live on a custom domain, no additional steps are required. Otherwise, there are a few easy steps that must be taken and are explained below. Before beginning, we recommend notifying your Label Insight customer success manager of your intent.

1. Decide on a subdomain and notify Label Insight

SmartLabel pages will live on a subdomain of your website. We recommend using “smartlabel” as this subdomain. For example, tastysnacks.com might decide to make their SmartLabel subdomain smartlabel.tastysnacks.comSmartLabel product pages would then be accessible at smartlabel.tastysnacks.com/product/9999999Once you’ve decided on a subdomain, simply provide the subdomain to Label Insight and we will begin the process of building the infrastructure for your web pages.

2. Add a CNAME record to your DNS configuration to validate your SSL certificate

During the process of creating your web infrastructure, a new SSL certificate will be created for your SmartLabel pages. This certificate ensures that your pages are served securely and that no one can impersonate your brand. You will need to update the DNS configuration for your website with a CNAME record that proves the authenticity of the newly-created certificate. Label Insight will provide this record and a member of your technical team will need to add it to your site’s DNS configuration.

3. Add a CNAME record to your DNS configuration that points your SmartLabel pages to your website

Once you have verified your SSL certificate and Label Insight has created your SmartLabel web infrastructure, you’ll need to update your DNS configuration to point your new subdomain to your SmartLabel pages. Label Insight will provide a CNAME record and a member of your technical team will need to add it to your site’s DNS configuration.
