Serving Size Unit of Measure | The unit of measure (UOM) associated to the serving size of the product listed first as present on the nutrition facts panel. |
Serving Size 2 | The serving size of the product listed second as present on the nutrition facts panel. This is only the value. |
Serving Size 2 Unit of Measure | The unit of measure (UOM) associated to the serving size of the product listed second as present on the nutrition facts panel. |
Serves Per Pack | This is the number of servings per package or container. |
No Serving Information | This field indicates whether or not serving information is present for the product. |
Serving Description | The Serve Description field is primarily used for capture of non-standard units of measure like “1 Bagel”, “13 Chips” or “55 Pieces”. This field also can contain descriptors for Serving Size 1 & 2, (i.e., Unpopped or Uncooked). This field serves as catch-all for additional non-standardized information provided on package to describe serving information. |
Not a Significant Source of Statement | This field stores the string of text associated with the “Not a Significant Source of” Statement. Some nutrients (calories from fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, dietary fiber, total sugars, added sugar, and nutrients of concern including Vitamin A, C, D, E, Iron, Calcium and Potassium) may be omitted from the standard nutrition facts panel and can instead be included within a single sentence when present at “zero” levels in a food and there are no related nutrient claims present on the product’s packaging. The FDA regulates this statement be formatted as follows “Not a significant source of ___” and it must be located immediately below the vitamin listing on the NFP.
