Field 

Description 

Product ID

This field is a 7-digit numerical unique identifying code that is assigned to every product in the Label Insight database. These product IDs are never reused, and when a product is deactivated for any reason, the ID stay associated with that product. 

UPC

This is the verbatim on package barcode captured for this given product. This field is NOT normalized to adhere to a certain GS1 Code and is strictly transcribed from the packaging image Since they are not standardized, the UPC field can be GTIN-14, 13, 12, UPC-A, or UPC-E, among others. This can also include UPC formats that are not in conformance with GS1 standards. All products that Label Insight delivers require some sort of UPC code.

Product Type

Label Insight uses a categorization hierarchy which allows for products to be evaluated based on the nature of those product groupings. Every product receives a set of four pieces which make up this hierarchy from most generic (Product Type) to most specific (Product Category). 

Product Type is most broad level of the categorization hierarchy. This indicates whether a product is an Alcohol, Apparel, Baby Cosmetics, Baby Food, Baby Medicine, Baby Supplements, Food, Household Cleaners, Household Goods, Household Tools, Infant Formula, Medical Devices, Medicine, Personal Care, Pet Cosmetics, Pet Food, Pet Goods, Pet Medicine, Pet Supplements, Supplements.

Unique ID*

The Unique ID of a product. Also sometimes referred to as the Variant ID.
