How do I use the Placement page? (Share of Shelf)

Modified on Mon, 18 Dec, 2023 at 12:41 PM

The Share of Shelf page allows you to view where and to which categories your products are listed on retailer websites. eCI does this by showing you retailer's online categorisation of products and where your product fits in with their categorisation. It also shows you how much of the shelf your product commands in relation to other products listed in the same category.

You can view your Share of Shelf by customising the following sections;

  • Retailer - Select the retailer to view category data on
  • Show Categories - View the categories the retailer uses on their website
  • Show Product Coverage - View which categories your products appear in, and how this compares to other brands in the same category. Note: This can only be viewed once you have clicked Show Categories
  • List Actions - Once the lists have been generated, the action buttons can be used to move between coverage results without re-generating the list;
    • Collapse Close all expanded categories
    • Show All - Display all categories for the selected retailer
    • Matched - Display only categories in which your products appear

To view which categories your products are listed under on a retailer's website, and see how this compares to other brands;

  1. Select the retailer to view from the drop-down menu
  2. Click Show categories - a list of every category the retailer uses on their website will be displayed
  3. Click Show products coverage - the categories where your products are listed as displayed and these can be expanded by clicking the > arrow

The category coverage results displays a detailed breakdown for every category that you have a product in - if you have no products in a category or sub-category, no coverage data will be available.

For each category displayed, the total number of products is displayed, with the smaller number indicating how many of these products in the category are on your range list.

Each category has two additional views;

  • Brands - A list of the top 10 brands in the category, ranked by the number of products currently listed. Clicking the show products button will display a list of products that the brand is offering in the selected category. For each product, the current price and search page and position is displayed, allowing you to view how individual products within the brand's range are performing in the selected category
  • Product Coverage Graph - Displays the coverage for each brand across the category as a pie chart. Clicking on a segment will open the next sub-category down (if available)
