Atkins DietAtkins DietAtkins Diet is a low carbohydrate diet aiming for weight loss. The diet usually has 4 phases with the first phase significantly limited the carbohydrate consumption. This attribute mainly facilitates selecting products for the first phase of Atkins 40. A product may qualify in one of the following ways: 1) If a product is traditionally considered a high-carb product, it will qualify only when it is carrying a whole grain certification, or claimed to contain whole grain, or contains whole grain ingredient (this is determined through Label Insight's ingredient parsing and analysis capabilities). This product also it needs to contain 0g Trans Fat or Label Insight's ingredient analysis, and less than 40g per serve Carbohydrate; 2) If a product is not considered a high-carb product, it will qualify if it contains 0g Trans Fat or Label Insight's ingredient analysis, contains less than 40g per serve Carbohydrate; 3) A product will qualify simply by claiming to qualify Atkins Diet.
South Beach DietSouth Beach DietIncludes all products that contain a South Beach Diet claim. The South Beach Diet is a low carbohydrate, high protein and helathy fat diet. It is intended to be a weight loss diet.
Weight WatchersWeight WatchersIncludes all products making a statement or having a certification related to Weight Watchers.

For products categorized as individual as defined by the FDA, they must also have less than 2 mg cholesterol RACC and per serving, and also no more than 2 g saturated fat RACC. For products categorized as main or meal as defined by the FDA, they must have less than 2 mg cholesterol per serving and no more than 2 g saturated fat per serving.
Low Cholesterol DietLow CholesterolLow Cholesterol products must pass the FDA disclosure filter for total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. For products categorized as individual as defined by the FDA, they must also have no more than 20 mg cholesterol RACC and no more than 2 g saturated fat RACC. Low Sugar DietLow SugarThe Low Sugar Diet attribute includes any product that is low sugar. A product may qualify in one of the following ways: 1) The product has 1% or less calories from sugar per Nutrition Facts Panel values (this is determined through Label Insight’s nutrient analysis); 2) The product claims to be low sugar, no sugar, sugar free, has 0g of sugar per serve, it is not a significant source of sugar, or has no added sugar; or 3) The product is one of the food items that is considered low sugar, for example, fresh fruits and vegetables, raw meat, or rice. The product will be excluded if it makes a statement indicating it contains added sugar.
Low Sugar DietSugar FreeSugar Free products must pass the FDA disclosure filter for total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium, and have less than 0.5 g sugar per serving. For products categorized as individual as defined by the FDA, they must also have less than 0.5 g sugar RACC.

 

Lifestyle Diets

Indicates whether the product meets the criteria for the most popular diets considered lifestyle choices (vegan, vegetarian, kosher, etc.) using both on package and derived data for attribution.

KetogenicKetogenicThe Ketogenic Diet attribute includes any food or beverage product which is suitable for a Ketogenic Diet. A product may qualify in one of the following ways: 1) the product has a ketogenic claim or certification (the product will qualify for this reason regardless of if it has any of the negative requirements), 2) The product is free from grain, added sugar, fruit, tubers, legumes, and sweetener (natural, artificial, and non-caloric) ingredients, 3) The calories from carbohydrates are 5% or less of the total calorie value per serving and there are 5g or less of total sugars per 100g; 4) The product claims to be low carb or carbohydrate free. A product will not qualify if it contains any of the negative attributes: 1) The product is in a category not allowed on a ketogenic diet, 2) The product has any kind of sugar or sugar substitute that is not allowed on the ketogenic diet, 3) the product is in the Dairy aisle (except for the Butter & Spread shelf) and has any kind of low fat, fat free, or reduced fat claim.
Kosher DietKosherThe Kosher All attribute includes all products claiming to be Kosher, or products carries a Kosher certification.
Low FODMAPLow FODMAPThe Low FODMAP Diet Combination attribute includes products that are acceptable when following a low FODMAP diet. A product can pass in one of the following ways: 1) the product bears a low FODMAP certification; 2) the product contains a low FODMAP marketing claim; and 3) the product contains low FODMAP ingredients and is free from high FODMAP ingredients.
MacrobioticMacrobioticThe Macrobiotic Claim attribute includes all products making a generic claim regarding macrobiotic on their package.
PaleoPaleoThe Paleo All attribute includes any product which qualifies for the paleo diet criteria. A product may qualify in one of the following ways: 1) The product has no added sugar (this is determined through Label Insight's nutrient analysis), contains no artificial sweetener, natural sweetener, non-caloric sweetener, generic sweetener, milk ingredients, grain ingredients, and legume ingredients (this is determined through Label Insight's ingredient parsing and analysis capabilities), excluding the following products: alcohol, cakes, cupcakes, snack cakes, croissants, sweet rolls, muffins, baking decorations, dessert toppings, ice cream, frozen yogurt, and other frozen desserts (this is determined through Label Insight's categorization structure); or 2) The product claims to qualify as paleo, or carries a paleo diet certification.
Plant BasedPlant BasedThe Plant Based attribute includes any food or beverage product that is considered plant based. A product may qualify in one of the following ways:1) The product contains a wholesome source of a fruit, vegetable or plant ingredient (plant based ingredients) AND does NOT contain or may contain any animal by-products or any animal ingredients (derived from Label Insight’s unique parsing and ingredient analysis); 2) The product has a 'vegan' claim ; 3) The product has a 'vegan' certification; 4) The product has a 'plant based' claim; 5) The product is: fresh, frozen, or dried fruits or vegetables, nuts/seeds or nut/seed butters, herbs and spices, plant based milk, fruit and vegetable juice, plant based water tea bags or wholesome fruit based snacks and bars (this is determined through Label Insight's categorization structure). A product will not qualify if it meets one of the above criteria and falls into one of the following categories: Meat/Seafood (Raw/frozen/cooked/ prepared meat, poultry seafood; cold cuts and deli meats; bacon and other cured meats), Milk (animal based liquid and powdered milk and cream), Cheese ( all animal sourced and alternative/non dairy cheese).
Plant BasedPlant ProteinThe Source of Plant Protein Claim attribute includes products that make a claim on package stating the product is sourced from a specific plant protein.
RawRawThe Raw Claim Cert attribute includes all products that make a claim or bear a certification about being 'raw'.
VeganVeganVegan includes all products that have published any symbol, logo, certification or marketing claim relating to or claiming to be vegan, or have been deemed to be free of any ingredient derived from or containing animal by products or derivatives.
VegetarianVegetarianVegetarian includes all products that have published any symbol, logo, certification or marketing claim relating to or claiming to be vegetarian, or have been deemed to be free of any ingredient derived from or containing meat or fish.
Whole GrainWhole GrainThe Whole Grain All attribute includes any food or beverage product which qualifies in one of the following ways: 1)The product has a published Whole Grain stamp; 2) The product has a marketing claim about it containing Whole Grains; or 3) The product contains a whole grain ingredient.
Whole GrainWhole Grain First IngredientThe Whole Grain First Ingredient attribute includes any food or beverage product which qualifies in one of the following ways: 1) The product has a marketing claim about it having whole grains as the first ingredients; or 2) The product has a whole grain ingredient in the first ingredient position order within the ingredient statement.
