Label Insight - How is Label Insight different from GDSN?

Modified on Wed, 20 Sep, 2023 at 3:25 PM

Product information in GDSN provides the industry’s foundation for data exchange between brands and retailers.

Originally designed to systematize and syndicate logistic and supply chain information, GDSN has made tremendous progress in recent years in standardizing consumer facing attributes such as nutrients, ingredients and allergens, as well as additional attributes such as a limited number of claims and certifications.

Label Insight takes a complementary, but different approach to product information than GDSN by collecting every single piece of data present on packaging: nutrients, ingredients, allergens, claims, certifications, romance copy, brand and manufacturer information, product/usage instructions, sustainability information, and every single additional element of data on the package.

Once extracted and digitized, Label Insight’s technology automates the derivation of more than 22,000 attributes from a single package through the analysis of data properties and data taxonomies and hierarchies. The result is a more complete, accurate, and enriched product record than the information available through GDSN.

Many brands invest significant time and resources in ensuring that their product information in GDSN is thoroughly complete and accurate so that it may be shared with its industry trade partners. Label Insight’s mission is to make product data generation, enrichment, and syndication as quick and easy as possible for brands and retailers.

If you have any additional questions about how to leverage GDSN or 1WS please submit a support ticket to have one of our team members assist you in finding the best solution to comply with your retailer’s request.
